Perseverance

How focused are you on your dreams, passions, relationships and goals?  Are you willing to let old habits die, leave friends that mean no good, or change your attitude to be more positive to achieve the things you seek?  An R&B artist by the name of Lloyd sang a song called "TRU" back in 2016.  If you have never heard of the song, I advise you to listen to it.  At the beginning of his song, he states "But in life there's always a chance to grow.  From the struggle, from the pain, from the realness."  We all have done things or made mistakes in our pasts that we are not particularly fond of.  I think we all have a friend or two that continues to dwell on old conversations, deeds, or acts that are very counterproductive to what you are trying to accomplish.

Another portion of his song, he states "Disappeared from the scene and left my old team.  Had to find a new approach to an old dream.  And it's not to take a shot at my old team.  I just want you to see."  At this point he realized that in order for him to grow, he had to change the company he kept around him.  I think that it was very important and necessary for him to say that he wasn't speaking ill will of his old team but he felt that they were not ready for the journey that he was pursuing and we all must realize that.  We can't continue to pull dead weight up a hill because soon the burnout will happen and the passion torch is soon diminished.

Identifying our past failures in our lives is critical but confessing our failures is even more critical to our relationships with others.  True confession opens the door to the possibility of forgiveness.  Sometimes a simple apology confessing a wrong is what is needed to tear down a barrier between people which can lead you to not only a better relationship with that person but also a better understanding of yourself.  In his chorus he sings "This is me so please accept me for who I am.  And please accept me for what I do.  I'm just doing everything that I can.  'Cause all I wanna be is true.  So please accept me for who I am.  And please accept me for what I do.  'Cause there's no me without you."

Don't let discouragement overwhelm you to the point that you want to give up.  Humble yourself by removing pride out of your way and asking for help because you will need a new team to reach that old dream.  #SPEAK2MYHEART
