Were You A Good Steward This Week?

Quiz time!  What better way to end a stressful, productive, easy, great, satisfying, disgusting, or whatever adjective you would like to insert to describe your week.  This exam requires you to be honest with yourself.  I can imagine the nervous sweat starting to bead upon your forehead right now, but don't worry, this is an open book test that you and only you will see and grade.  So are you ready?

1.  Think about the items you purchased this week, was it important, useful, and worthy?  Sometimes we get so wrapped up with what everyone else is buying, that we forget what is important and worth pursuing.

2.  Do you have a budget and if so, did you go outside of that budget?  You should know how much money you make and how much your bills are.  The only way to get financially ahead is to budget so that you know where your money is going.  No matter how much or how little you are paid, you will never get ahead if you spend more than you earn.

3.  Did you check the balance on your credit card or look at your credit score this week to ensure no one has stolen your identity?  Credit card debt has been ruled the number one obstacle to getting ahead financially.  Despite our wonderful efforts of paying the balance off quickly, most don't.

 4.  How much money did you contribute to your savings, retirement, and investment accounts?  You have heard it before: Pay yourself first because if you wait then chances are, you won’t have anything left over to save. 5.  Did you look to see if there were any bills such as cable, phone, insurance, mortgage, or car payments you can lower to save more?  We often over pay for these items and don't realize it.  What better time than now to sit and look over these bills to see if there is a lower rate or if the coverages you have are more than what you need.

So how did you do?  These are minimal actions you can take to ensure your financial future.  Where you spend your time and money, and what you talk about shows exactly what you value the most.  So speak intelligently and make wise choices to be a great steward of your life and money. #SPEAK2MYHEART
